let the fingers do the walking

It’s a struggle each week to keep my curious fingers from bringing out the maps, unfolding the many creased sections and tracking out our progress from the coast. An overwhelming pleasure that I try to restrain until the completion of each week’s run. But today and tomorrow and all this week I’ll let those fingers do all the tracing they desire. We’re into our last week in Namibia! We’ve got 135 km until Katima Mulilo. Three runs until the border and just 4 days until we cross into Zambia.

Tomorrow we’ll make our way back into the Caprivi Park to finish up our last 15km inside before heading back out into what is hopefully safer road (not that I haven’t enjoyed the wildlife)! It’s just a little daunting to step out of the car when you’ve only just seen cheetahs and elephants and hyenas from inside the car windows. Although, waking up to hippo tracks winding through out campsite is a little cool. None-the-less, I’ll be excited to finish in the park and folding up one country’s map 4 good!

  1. I think it’s more than a little cool, Reu. I’d say that rates at least a “pretty f***ing cool.”

    Hey Reuben,

Ihope folding up the map and putting it away will not mean you will not be seen in Namibia again?

It is pretty exciting to realize that you are 1/3 of the way through this odessy. Well done!!! You have certainly experienced some difficult times but through it you have continued on and that is so commendable. As a team you guys are going to make it all the way and what a team you are!
Reuben, your mom is coming with hugs from the gang here at 4055, and expecially one from me. Take care of each other.
